The Marine Corps League is the only Congressionally chartered United States Marine Corps-related veterans organization in the United States. Its Congressional Charter was approved by the 75th U.S. Congress and signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937.

2016 Independence Day Parade

Pictured (l-r): John Sterle, Larry Himes, Robert Lopez, Marc MacDonald & Commandant, Ben Collins.Gaffney-Oglesby MCL Det. #1328 participated in the Silver City 4th of July Parade with a marching contingent followed by Don Spann’s ’42 Jeep with Leonard Pritikin & Gene Lewis on board. Also, Frank Donohue coordinated and escorted Gold Star Mothers, Mrs. Grijalva & Mrs. Cowan in a vehicle on loan from Lawley Ford. Gaffney-Oglesby MCL Det. #1328 placed First among the veteran/marching units. Congratulations and Bravo Zulu to everyone who participated!

About Gaffney-Oglesby Detachment 1328

MCL 1328Our detachment was formed (officially installed) April 28,2009. Joe Gaffney was chosen because he was a 'Mustang'. He started out as a Pvt. and rose to the rank of Captain during his 20 plus years in the Corps. He passed away a few years ago and is buried at Ft. Bayard. Ken Oglesby was a young Marine raised in Silver City. His father Ron is a Physician's asst. at Gila Regional and works in the ER. He is a decorated Corpsman that served in 'Nam', with 3/3. Ken Oglesby served in Operation Desert Storm and Somalia.

Grant County Toys For Tots

Raises funds to provide toys to supplement the collections of local coordinators and defray the costs of conducting annual Toys for Tots campaigns.

Toys for Tots served 1411 kids in 2015. Thank you.
